I was doing tax planning for a client today, setting up her quarterlies as we finished her tax return.
My projections of her income show that she will need to pay $4,000 more in taxes than this year if the AMT patch is not fixed. Her first quarterly is due April 15th. There is zero chance that Congress will have determined her tax rate before she must pay that tax.
Those bastards.
They have no idea how badly it damages people to live with uncertainty like this. It's one great big giant anti-stimulus act that they're passing by not passing any other acts.
