Marriage penalty

I finished our tax returns yesterday.  We turned out to be slightly better doing separate returns this year.  Since I went to the bother of splitting the returns, this year I went ahead and checked out what it cost us to be married, as opposed to filing "single" and "head of household" returns.

The cost of being married in terms of increased tax liability?  $1334 in 2010, $111/month.

Phew, it's gone down.
