Water!

Dec 02, 2010 10:13

At the Transition Town meeting yesterday a guy was there who had just moved from Boulder to Our Small Town.  When we were setting up the categories of critical things that needed attention to cushion the transition to a post peak world, he told us that he was just astonished, simply floored, at the casual way we treat water here.  Everyone blinked at him in confusion.  Water?  What about water?  He insisted that we add that category, so we put it in with Food and Farming.  But... water?  Why worry about THAT?

Except I just got done being taken to task by sjaustin  about some mysterious water-related issue and seidhr  gave me a bunch of reading and so by chance I actually knew what he was talking about.  But no one else did.  Someone pointed out the window at the drenching rain and said, "that water?"

I'm not sure what work needs to be done on this front, but we stuck it on the "To Do" list.

Thanks, desert-dwellers!
