I set the subject line of this post optimistically. I'll try.
.) The bees are alive! They came out in the first warm sunny day and shook off their dusty coats and buzzed around some sugar water I set out for them. B. went into the top super we had left for them and they still had honey. Not frozen, not starved, not diseased to death. Yay bees!
.) Yesterday I was craving salad greens. I'm alone with Small Boy on Fridays for reasons that don't belong on a Happy Things List, so I needed to get him food. We walked the mile downtown to the nice Mexican place where I got a mesclun salad with beans & rice. Just the thing!
.) While there I bought an extra quesadilla that I brought home to have for lunch for myself today. Which I got to eat because no one (read: sixteen year-old son) knew it was there.
.) My daughter had emailed me a long explanation that amounted to, "I'm coming home and taking your car for a few days which you'll never notice because you're chained to your desk, mmkay, bye." I'm generally okay with this, but it turned out to be better than okay: she found herself a ride home from college instead of making us go pick her up!
.) Also: while home, she took pity on my total lack of leafy greens and went to the grocery store for me where she bought me two kinds of heads of lettuce, a bag of mesclun mix and a bag of baby spinach. God, I love that girl!
.) While trying not to burst my vessels from the stress levels yesterday, I sought out the tanning booth place a block from my house. They let me straight in. I haven't been tanning in a year and found it just as relaxing and stress reducing as I used to. Nevermind that my iPod battery died immediately: standing still just Being in Light for 15 minutes was just what the doctor ordered. Or, would have ordered if they weren't so worried about skin cancer. No need to worry about cataracts anymore, at least!
.) I got in a tiny bit of weightlifting yesterday. Which is Happy, because the other option was Not Happy. I'm glad that I use my insane stress levels to seek out salad greens and light and a weight room.
.) I have a road bike on the fluid trainer in the livingroom and have been plugging away at a Spinervals DVD. I pretend that I can't get all the way through them because I'm out of time, but I'm lying to myself. I can't get through them because I'm out of shape. It's okay, I know how to fix this. I love my bike. I am so damn lucky to have a fluid trainer and a road bike and Spinervals DVDs in my livingroom.
.) I have six open slots next week. Free time! Wuhoo! (I'm trying to make this sound happy. I'm struggling for Happy Thoughts here. I have 64 clients who have not scheduled yet, nearly all of whom want to come in my extremely limited April slots. I used to have Reception Help that worked the phones to fill these slots. Now, not so much.) But, hey: it looks like I can get some exercise in! Also: none of the receptionists appear to be able to work this Wednesday. That's the day with three hours of unfilled slots, so score that as a WIN!
.) None of my seven parents are in the hospital. My husband hasn't divorced me yet. Home Improvement Drama (which also does not belong on this Happy List) tried but did not succeed in killing me again today. I'm out of the Johnnie Walker Red so I guess I'm just going to have to drink the Good Stuff tonight.
