Aunt Barb's Grape Salad

Aug 24, 2020 18:21

One of the best things about a potluck family reunion is everyone brings their best dishes. My aunt brought a salad that I really enjoyed and she was happy to give me the recipe when I asked for it.

Mix together a dressing of:
  • 8 ounces of softened cream cheese,
  • 1 cup of sour cream,
  • 1/4 cup of sugar, and
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla.
It's probably enough for five pounds of grapes. Aunt Barb's recipe called for four pounds, but said she had leftover dressing.
  • Use large round seedless grapes, perhaps Flame Seedless or Tudor Premium Red or Cardinal or Perlette, Interlaken, etc.. More than one kind is pretty.
Mix together and sprinkle on top of the dressed grapes, a topping of:
  • Brown sugar and , maybe 1/4 cup (this wasn't quantified in her recipe, I guess it depends on how many grapes you had.)
  • Chopped pecans, maybe 1/4 cup chopped small (it wasn't a huge impact, just a bit of interest.)
