So...I was going to go through and cut this down, and make it make more sense, but I decided not to because it reflects my excitement. It was more than for the actual episode. Sorry.

86%? That's interesting math...and 13/15 without rounding the repetend.

He glanced over at her and smiled, one of those ridiculously full bodied, no holds barred kind of smiles. She immediately suspected something was amiss. That sounds like a very Lightman grin. Actually, that's an interesting parallel. Hm. They're kind of the same and kind of opposites. Foils. Fascinating. I want to go all literary analysis on this.

OH HENRI. TEARS. I HAVE TEARS. AND I DON'T CRY OVER SAPPY, BLEEDING-HEART ROMANCE.

BEING WATCHED. WON'T BE ABLE TO TALK ANYMORE. YOU DON'T MAKE IDLE THREATS OR POINTLESS REFERENCES. THIS WORRIES ME.

Foster code-switching = adorable. I want to learn French. #KWmakesmewanterrything

Daaaaang, you did some intense research. I don't think I worked that hard on some of my papers.

THAT NOTE. bbl dead. nothing to say.

It's Thanksgiving ( ... )

I was totes thinking of working this into an actual essay, but…no. No mental space. I was trying to ~analyze~ why this is such a brilliant example of awesome!fic, you know, like normal people do, and we have a couple reasons. Two stand out.

a) Gillian Foster is such a ~strong female character~ here. You can see it all the way through TLWT, but it really hit home with the conversations with Lightman and Ivana. She’s getting herself into a bit of a situation, racking up the danger points, and NO ONE KNOWS. And that’s key, because it’s totally her own action. She’s so often imperiled (both in-show and in fic) because she’s a pawn or collateral damage in someone else’s reckless plan or hunt for revenge or last-ditch hope, and here, no one even knows how terribly horrible wrong this could go except for maybe Henri, because she’s doing all of this on her own initiative, out of her ~convictions~. And also she gets to be totally awesome and competent and kriffing fantabulous doing it ( ... )

OH GOODNESS. AN ESSAY? NO SIR. THAT IS QUITE MAD.

A) WELL IT'S NOT THAT NO ONE KNOWS, IT'S JUST THAT EVERYONE ONLY KNOWS LITTLE BITS AND PIECES. LIKE A GIANT PUZZLE. AND EVENTUALLY, YOU WILL SEE WHAT I'M GOING FOR. EVENTUALLY. I CAN'T WAIT TIL YOU DO.
-- YES. CONVICTIONS. THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH. I HATE IT WHEN I EVERYTHING HAS TO BE PERSONAL. NO IT REALLY DOESN'T. SOMEONE ELSE'S ACTIONS CAN BE ABHORRENT TO YOU AND IF THEY HARM OTHER PEOPLE, WHY NOT INTERVENE? goodness gracious.

B) YES. THE RESEARCH. IT MAKE THE STORY MORE... PLAUSIBLE WHICH IS WHAT I'M GOING FOR. BECAUSE I WANT TO GIVE FOSTER A BACKSTORY THAT THE SHOW WILL NEVER BE AWESOME ENOUGH TO COME UP WITH. SAD BUT TRUE. THANK YOU FOR RECOGNIZING MY EFFORTS, FRIEND.

AND ONCE AGAIN, THANKYOUVERYMUCH.

I'm going to respond in two parts, 'cos that's how I rollllll. I don't cry over romance either. It's truly not my forte. But Gillian seems like the sappy type, so I figured that proposal would work for her. (gross love times) (yes, I'm 12.)

Zoe does have maternal instincts... somewhere in there ;)

Foster and the shelter. Not so much Mother Superior and more derived from the Sweet 16 script (in her office was a drawing an inner city boy did for her that Cal noted - this was not seen on the show) and a very mild character analysis. In addition, that ~shelter~ biz will come up again. JUST YOU WAIT.

Like, I truly imagine Gillian and Lindsay being thick as thieves in their youth and wrote them as such. Their personalities compliment each other in certain regards.

Gillian only thinks she shutting down Cal. He's merely weakening her defenses.

BUT MOSTLY, I AM GLAD THAT YOU PICKED UP ON THE HENRI/CAL PARALLEL. BECAUSE THAT IS DELIBERATE MY FRIEND. FOUR FOR YOU.

AND THANK YOU MUCHLY.
