The kids are creepy

After this episode I really feel like saying it: Welcome back, show! I've missed you.

The only thing I didn't like about that episode was Ben. The idea is fine. This kid that could be Dean's son but turns out not to. And I'm glad it turned out that way because a kid Dean feels responsible for is really nothing the show needs right now. And by the way, Dean: If you were with Lisa 8 years ago and Ben's turning 8 now then there's 9 month missing for him to possibly be your son.
Anyway, the reason I didn't like Ben was that they completely overdid it. He was way too much like Dean or rather he was way too much like adult Dean.

I might not get into the MotW story too much this time. Not because I didn't like it but because the episode raised some way more important questions.

Well, they did put me on the complete wrong track at the beginning. Daddy brings his daughther back home and she tells her mother that she doesn't want to have Dad nights any more because he's mean and there are monsters. Poor little girl. But then Daddy gets killed. With a power saw. Ewwww!

Sam's sitting in a cafè talking to Bobby, translating rituals and doing research. Because there's no way he'll stop trying to get Dean out of the deal. He just won't tell Dean about it any more. Which is more complicated than it sounds. He's lucky Dean knocks on the window before comeing in so Sam has just enough time to cut the call off and close the laptop.

"Who was that?"
"Oh, I just ordered pizza."
"Dude, you do realise that you're in a restaurant?"
"Yeah. Yeah, I just felt like Pizza, you know?"
"Okay, Weirdy McWeirdeton"

Okay, Sam, we seriously have to work on your lying abilities.
Dean found a case in Indiana. Well, he actually rather was looking for an excuse to visit Lisa.

"Come on, it's my dying wish."
"Yeah, how many dying wishes are you gonna get?"

Sam seems a lot more relaxed again. Maybe with all his research he's starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel that's not hellfire.

Ah, there Dean drives by the red dirt. I was wondering how he knew where to find the kids later.

When Dean knocks on Lisa's door I was half expecting her boyfriend/husband turning up behind here asking who it was. After all it's been 8 years. A kid's birthday party does the job as well. ;) I love the cake.
And I like Annette. I think the actress does an amazing job getting more and more freaked out by her own daughter.

Sam's working on getting Dean out of the deal again when Ruby shows up. I think she starts to grow on my. I don't like her but in a "I don't trust her" not in a "I want her out of my show" way.
Sam asks one question after another. Where did she get the knife? Why is she following him? But Ruby doesn't really answer any of his questions. She rather seems to toy with him.

"Why are you following me?"
"I'm interested in you."
"Why?"
"Because you're tall. I love a tall man. And then there's the whole anti-christ thing."

*gulps* So we went from "leader of a demonic armee" to "boy king" to "anti-christ" within three episodes. I'm starting to get a little worried. Not necessarily because I don't believe Sam can fight his "destiny". We're talking about Sammy here and I trust him. But that sounds like Sam'll draw a lot of attention in the demonic world.
Ruby knows quite a lot about YED's plans for Sammy and I think now we can be sure that YED was looking for special children and not making them special. Why is Sam so sure that his vision's are really gone? It's not like he had them all the time. Okay, they were always tied to the Psykids but there's still the next generation like Rosie for example.
In any case it's clear that it isn't over and there's still the mystery surrounding Mary. Ruby hints that something happened to her friends.

Dean calls and tells Sam that there is a job - just what Ruby had just told him before she had left. There's been more weird accidents. Sam looks into them and finds traces that kind of look like blood and a red mark on one of the mother's necks.

Katie, Annette's daughter is acting creepier and creepier and the mirror catches her true form. It's disturbing that Annette's capable of killing her own kid. Then again she just knows that this "Katie" isn't her daughter, the fear's slowly driving her insane and we learned earlier at Ben's birthday party that no one really listens to her and her friends think it's just the grief. She's desperate.

I like the scene with Dean and Ben in the park. Ben acts more like a child there. But I'd be mad with Dean as well if he told my child to put on a fight. But nevertheless Dean is great with kids.

Sam has figured out what they're dealing with. I love that they explore the SPN version of changelings. And I can't believe I didn't get it earlier. Now they have to find the real kids and burn the changelings.

"Great. We'll just bust in, drag the kids out, torch them on the front lawn. That'll play great with the neighbours."

But before they do that Dean has to try and get Ben and Lisa out of harm's way. Unfortunately it's too late for that.
Thank's to the blood that's actually red dirt Dean knows where to find the kids.
Why does Sam always get beaten up? But at least he the one to torch the changeling mother which makes all the other changelings go up in flames as well.

They bring Ben home and Lisa - after learning about Dean's job - confirmes once more that Ben's not Dean's son. And Dean doesn't just look disappointed.

"It's weird, you know? Your life. I mean, this house. The kid. It's not my life, it ever will be. Some stuff happened to me recently and... anyway, a guy in my situation, you start to think, you know. I'll be gone one day and what am I leaving behind besides a car."

A damn fine car, I might add.
But seriously: I can see why Dean is disappointed. Why a big part of him was hoping that Ben was his son. But I still think it's good that he isn't. Right now I don't think Dean needs a kid in his life. This responsibility with everything else that is going on right now. That wouldn't be fair to him or the kid. I know that Dean thinks he'll never have the chance to have this now. This life he thought he didn't want for so long but realises now that he does want, at least some of it. But he will be able to have that. After Sam has saved him from the deal. *nods*

I love how they do that next scene. The pace, the cuts and the music mirroring Sam's feelings so well.

It turns out that all of Mary's friends are dead and according to Ruby it was YED who wiped them out or had them wiped out. Ruby who knows too much about Sam's family to be just a hunter.

"Just tell me who you are!"
"Fine."

Eeeek! So Ruby is a demon. A demon who killed other demons to save Sam's life. That makes here even more interesting. And probably way more dangerous. Because that means she has a plan she doesn't want anyone to interfere with. And she seemingly knows everything about Sam, his family and YED.

"You're a demon."
"Don't be such a racist. I'm here because I wanna help you."

I believe her. She wants to help him because she needs him for whatever her plan is.

"All I know is that it's about you."
"What?"
"Don't you get it Sam? It's all about you."

Yes, we kinda already knew that. I think Sam's question was more refering to the fact that he thought this was all in the past.

"What happened to your Mom, what happened to her friends. They're trying to cover up what he did to you. And I want to help you figure it out."
"Why would you want to help me?"
"I have my reasons. Not all demon's are the same, Sam. Not all of us want the same things. Me? I want to help you from time to time. That's all. If you let me, there's something in it for you."
"What could you possibly..."
"I could help you save your brother."

So for now Ruby'll keep Sam save, help him figure our how his Mom knew YED and why all her friends are dead. And more importantly: She's his best shot when it comes to saving Dean. She`s a demon so she might always lie but she also might tell the truth and Sam can't let a chance like that go. But he'll be playing with (hell)fire and he knows it. He can't trust her and he has no idea what she's up to.

Can it be next thursday now, please?
