Once more: Image heavy!
Day 6 - Mystical England
On our last day we drove to Avebury which I would love to show you photos of but unfortunately I forgot my camera in the car. Stupid me. I know howsoever that Verena took quiet a few so maybe I can edit some of hers later.
From there we drove on to Stonehenge. There's no way you spent a week in Southern England and don't see Stonehenge, is there? I had heard from quite a few people that they had been a little disappointed by it and that you can't get close and that stupid fence is in you way and so on. So my expactations weren't really that high. The more I was surprised that you (if you're willing to pay admission) can get pretty close and there's nothing blocking your sight. Sure you can't climb around on the stones but you get a good look at them I thought it was very impressive.
I didn't take less than 27 pictures but since I'm sure everyone has seen dozens of amazing pictures of Stonehenge already I'm not gonna bore you by posting all of them. If anyone wants to see them all nevertheless just tell me and I'll upload them for you.
A few miles from Stonehenge is Woodhenge. We had no idea what to expect but since it was just early afternoon we went there. You need some imagination for that one:
Another place we went to that day was Old Saruman and the old Salisbury Cathedral or rather what's left of it.
We were back home that day pretty early and decided to end our day with going to the movies. Since the cinema in Winchester is rather small we had the choince between some French movie, "Run, fat boy, run" and "Atonement".
We chose Atonement. I'm not going to reveal major plot points but some slight spoiler
I'm not sure if I should recommend that movie or not. It was almost like two movies. The first part was pretty funny actually. My favourite scene (which you won't get unless you've seen the movie) is: "I found a letter." - "Give to to me!" The second part is a little weird and at least seems pretty realistic. I like (if like is the right word) the ending. Would have been more credible if the auther of the actual book wasn't male though.
End of spoiler
The very last day we didn't do much. We just had a few more hours to kill before we had to be at the airport. So we walked to the town center of Winchester one last time, strolled through every book and dvd store there is, had a cup of hot chocolat and of course couldn't leave without buying something. I found the beforementioned book "A ghosthunter's guide to England" and "North & South" on DVD. When I saw it I instantly remembered how much
elding liked it and that
darciana not long ago had written about the German version being 30 minutes shorter. So I had to jump at the chance and take the UK version home with me.
I found this poster Winchester station and had to take a picture because it made me think of
cellardoor081 and
shaitanah who were probably already in the middle of watching the first episode of season 3 at that time.
And finally some pictures of England from high above:
Bye, bye, England. I already miss you and I hope I'll be back soon.
And if you've read your way through all my Southern England entries you get your very own personal Dean. After all England has more than enough of them. ;)

Edit: FYI, the UK version of Supernatural Season 2 Part 2 has all the extras that are on the US version. Seems like they learnt their lesson from season 1. I don't know about the IMTOD commentary though. That one might be missing.
