Mini Series
Band of Brothers (2001) (9/10)
To be honest, (anti-)war stories aren't my cup of tea at all. I see how they may be important, I just don't like to watch them. I really only started watching Band of Brothers because Richards speaks so fondly of this project.
But about halfway through, I did find myself getting attached to some of the characters and impressed by how the mini series tells its story. It just has something so very honest and human about it. And with all the horrors of the earlier episodes, I have to say that it was the last part that got to me the most. I understand now, why this project gets so much praise.
On a side note: It's nice, for a change, to have German characters who actually speak German and not something that loosely resembles the language.
Fallen (2006)It's obviously not the best executed show, some of the acting is just bad, and some scenes are downright ridiculous. A talking dog, anyone? Also, a female lead who claims to be an angel buff but can't make the connection from Lightbringer to Lucifer? Seriously? But the concept is pretty interesting and some of the mythology is grounded in actual angel lore: Lucifer's fall, the Nephilim, the Powers, Gabriel's horn... and for the most part it's not a clear good vs. evil story, which is something that I prefer, especially with religious themes.
