Sudoku tournament

There was a Sudoku tournament here last night. I think about 24 people signed up for it. Each round, they'd cut the field in half with whoever could finish the puzzles the fastest, down to 12, then 6, then the top 3, who got prizes. I ended up taking 3rd place, and won a $50 gift certificate to Best Buy. In the first 3 rounds though, I finished 3rd, 1st, and 2nd, so I definitely had a chance at finishing 1st or 2nd in the final round. The same three of us kept finishing in the top 3 every round. I ended up talking to the guys who beat me, and one was going for his masters in mathematics, and the other was going for his PhD in mathematics. I guess despite the fact that the game doesn't require any actual math skill, there still must be something to it where math knowledge makes it easier.

I am eating dill pickle potato chips.
