Making a deal with a demon probably wasn't one of my better ideas.

Everyone seems to have had these bad experiences with demons. I find this unfortunate, and wonder if those of you who have dealt with such incidents did something to warrant or provoke them.

Well, I wouldn't say that I have a bad impression of them. I've never seen many demons around before this, you see.

[ yes, that is in fact sarcasm. ]

If your experiences are so limited then what leads you to believe you have made such a poor decision?

Society as a whole looks down upon selling your soul.

I hardly think indentured servitude toward an ends that benefits us constitutes selling our souls.

A matter of semantics.

You're happy with the arrangement here, then?

Happiness is also a matter of semantics, you could say. I am, for the moment, satisfied with serving my purpose here to achieve my goal.

Can you be so sure they'll keep their end of the bargain?

Demons tend to be bound by their word; such is their very nature. Our fates are detailed in binding contracts--it is rare for a demon to default on such black-and-white logistics.

Contracts can be broken.

-- How is it that everyone here is so familiar with dealings of the demonic sort?

Rarely without reaping unpleasant repercussions of such an act. Admittedly, most spirits and demons are of a manipulative sort--tricksters, and the like. That's why details matter so much. If they are able to catch you on a technicality, they will. That does not mean their word is not their bond, it just means those who feel they were wronged were usually lacking in specificity.

It seems most of us who have found ourselves here come from very different origins, a good percentage of which appear to have at least some demonic presence therein.

[ LMFAO HOLY SHIT VERGE IT WAS A RHETORICAL QUESTION. give him a second to digest that, you crazy. ]

-- I see. I don't recall any details worked out, any fine print to nitpick. I don't even recall being told any terms until after I woke up here.

Don't mind make asking, dear, how did you learn all this?

[HE'S JUST THOROUGH, OKAY?? XD]

Admittedly, you have a point there--terms were not discussed until we had already arrived, however I did find the details to be acceptable either way.

[ whatever, power-craycray demon boy. and yes, dear. he'll call anyone any damn pet name he wants!!1 ]

I'd really like to renegotiate the terms of my contract. This sort of thing isn't at all what I had in mind.

-- In the field?

I'm afraid I cannot help you there.

And yes, in the field. The... general field of demon knowledge. Perhaps that was a poor choice of words.
