Anime Weekend Atlanta: Thursday Bloody Thursday

Thursday 9/29/2011
4:30am Wake up, planned to leave at 2:00am take a quick shower and leave for Atlanta.
Listened to 5 hours of podcasts and streamed a local radio show over my iPhone. Notified Jeff (from Colony Drop) that I might not be able to pick him up from the airport.
Filled up and got McDonalds somewhere in Alabama.
Roughly got into Georgia around 12:00PM. Was able to pick up Jeff from the Airport. Went to the North Terminal by mistake. The New Orleans International Airport is a joke in comparison, why haven't we build a real airport yet? Anyway Jeff and I make our way to the Embassy Suites, drive around, and check in.
5:30pm: Grab some dinner at Chipotle with Jeff stop by the hotel and make an adult drink in my Chipotle cup. We meet Mike before the con line starts up. We go to the Mall with Mike and his friends. His friends want nothing to do with us.
Jeff, Mike, and I go to Happy Hour at the Embassy Suites and get Jeff drunk. I refill my Chipotle cup and we go back to the con.
Convention line starts, I'm the only one who preregistered. Everyone quickly makes their way through. After 30 minutes I learned I was in the group registration line. Went to the normal preregistration line and get in.
Jeff and I go to the Super Happy Fun Sale™. We meet Dave Merrill and he gives us passes to a top secret elite party that only bad asses are allowed to attend. I buy an El Hazard Artbook (which the girl selling tried to haggle me and ultimately talked me down in the sale's price? Failed barter check I suppose.) for a friend of mine, the first two volumes of the PlanetES manga, and a NeoTokyo DVD.
Next Jeff and I went to Dave's Old School Classroom™. By this point the adult beverage gave me a decent buzz. Before the panel I introduced myself to the Anime World Order kids (who were only interested in eating chocolate cake) where I received the first of many "deer caught in the headlights" looks I've gotten from people. I spoke up a few times in the panel like a jerk and I calmed down. Informative panel, I'd highly recommend it.
After that panel Jeff and I went back to the room and passed out.
