Joe Ranft

I'm a huge Pixar fan.  I love Toy Story,  I love the Incredibles.  I love the way Pixar makes movies and tells stories.  I love the animation and the technological skill they use which seems so effortless.  But among the many thing that sets Pixar apart from most movie making companies is their ability to really tell the story.  As always it starts in the writing.  Joe Ranft was a huge part of that.

So I'm saddened to have discovered that Joe Ranft has died in a car accident.

Joe Ranft help create the stories of some of Pixar's best works as well as other inspiring movies at Disney.  You can find his name by Toy Story,  A Bug's Life,  Fantasia 2000,  The Brave Little Toaster,  Beauty and the Beast,  and The Lion King.  He's worked on films like The Nightmare Before Christmas,  James and the Giant Peach,  and Who Framed Roger Rabbit?  And like many of the people who end up working at Pixar,  he has helped provide voice talent for many of their movies as well.  He was the voice of Jacque in Finding Nemo,  Heimlich in A Bug's Live,  and my favorite,  Wheezy The Penguin in Toy Story 2.

So here's to you Joe.  And I give to you a heartfelt thank you for helping to bring to life some great stories.  God Bless you and God be with the people at Pixar.  They lost a great talent and so have we.
