You Can See I'm In No Shape For Driving

I made it into NCUR. Well, my abstract did. Now I have to actually revise my paper and turn it into a presentation. We'll see how that goes. Secretly, I was sort of hoping I wouldn't make it since I'm not excited about the extra work. Buuuut, hey, now I get to road trip to Lacrosse, WI with a bunch of English majors. I think NCUR was in San Francisco a few years ago... I wish I was smarter earlier.
Last night, a team* of us went to the Chatterbox. Initially, there was going to be an army, not a team but, as per Hamline, I got a flood of texts and calls a few hours before we were going to leave giving me excuses. Okay, maybe not a flood. Like three. It was awesome, though; we made a new friend (2) over the course of the weekend since he ended up at both parties I went to this weekend and then joined us for karaoke and beer.
Also, I'll be going to Korean bilingual mass next weekend since the adorable woman who cuts my hair got to talking with Loren while I was getting the car (it ended up being colder than we anticipated) and found out that I am, in fact, Korean, not Chinese (she assumed Ho was Chinese last year and that I was too, I guess). She was super excited about it and sent us home with Korean potato pancakes and an invite to mass this Sunday... in addition to haircuts.
To gear up for mass (and because it will be awesome), we'll be having a cross-cultural cook-off this week (if all goes well). Team Korea will take on Team Latino and possibly Team Caucasia... yes, I know the teams are inconsistent. The idea, as I understand it, is for Team Korea to try to make a Mexican dish and Team Latino (which could be Team Mexico, I suppose, since both members ended up being Mexican) will try to make a Korean dish. Since Team Korea has me and
electric_colors on it, we'll probably win by a landslide or end up stabbing each other... possibly both. I suppose I'm feeling a little like the hare before the race.

2: At a party.
Jon: Hey, man, you should come out and do karaoke with us tomorrow!
Alex: Sweet! I'll give you my number.
Jon: What's your last name so I can have last name comma first name? ... I'm anal.
Alex: Z I N O S.
Jon: Is that Greek?
Alex: Yeah!
Jon: Do... you like Ouzo?
Alex: I love Ouzo!
Jon: (whips out bottle of Ouzo from his bag) My roommate brought this from Greece!
