Well, hello LiveJournal. I have no visited you in months. I have some catching up to do.
That's what happens when you're laid off - you somehow manage to find other things to do than sit on the internet all day. Since I've been laid off since February I've run out of those other things, though, so I'm back online all the time now.
Not working sucks. Sure, I'm getting unemployment but that insultingly low amount of money doesn't go far enough to allow me to have any semblance of a life. I can basically pay bills and drink cheap beer.
Hopefully I'll be working soon, because I need a few months to save up some money for the inevitable move back to NY. It's supposed to happen in September, but I'm making every attempt to get back sooner than that. Not having a job here and paying what I do in rent seems like a huge waste of time and money. I should be spending this period of unemployment looking for a job in Buffalo, not here. That's the funny thing about leases, though. It costs more to break them than it does to ride them out.
The leasing agency did advise me that we can sublet this place, though, if we need to for a few months. The roommate's unemployed as well, and neither of us have any real reason to stay here. She's leaving Chicago as well and like me, she's ready to get the hell out of here. I hate sitting around killing time and I feel that's exactly what I'm doing right now.
I should have moved back to Buffalo a year ago when I was originally planning on it. Ugh.
