It was a normal Wednesday for me. I went to work, I went to my first class of the summer. Nothing big. At least that's what I thought until Mike came home from work. He sat down and asked me to take out the trash. I said, sure, ok. No big deal. So I take out the trash. As soon as I get back in, I immediately notice that the apartment is quiet. It was too quiet for my comfort. I had a feeling Mike was up to shenanigans. He wasn't in the study. He wasn't in the bedroom. I even checked both closets and both bathtubs. That's when I notice that his sandals are gone. Curious, I walked down the stairs of our building only to find that his car was nowhere to be found. Definitely shenanigans.
So I call him and ask him where he went. He said that he thought that I might need some help with the trash since it was *so heavy*. Uh huh. He said that maybe I decided to have a proactive attidude towards fitness and decided to take the trash to a different dumpster. While he was coming up with this lame ass excuse, I noticed that hte background noise of the call was too loud for him to be driving around in the complex. I told him that he was crazy, and to come home whenever he felt like it.
When he eventually came home, I noticed that he had a GameStop bag that had something green in it. My immediate thought was that he bought me Sims 3 and wanted to surprise me. Much to my disappointment, it was not said Sims game but a crap ton of XBOX games. I told him that this sneaking around got my hopes up and that he was trying to surprise me. He just laughed and said that he went to that GameStop to tell them not to hold it anymore because we were going to wait. He said that if he told me before he left I would have been upset. Soon after
sparklyaria called me to tell me a story about a crazy coworker who supposedly has whooping cough. I then told her what Mike did, and his reasoning. Brandy is a voice of reason for me and usually tells Mike to behave, but this time she totally sided with him. Totally caught me off guard.
A few hours later, we decide to make dinner. Mike thought it would be a good idea to have salad, and sent me to the store so I could get the stuff to make it. The deal was that if I went to the store, he would intall a bootleg copy of the Sims while I was out. After dinner, he asks me to go check on the progress of the install. To my surprise, there was nothing there/ No programs running. No new folders. Not a thing.
I come out from the study and he had that look of guilt on his face. I asked him if he didn't install the Sims because he was playing another game. He said no. Then I asked if him if he didn't install the game because he was watching Red Dwarf. He laughed and said no. It was only then that I realized that there was a big box sitting on the laptop.
Lo and behold it's the collector's edition of Sims 3. I immediately opened up the box so I could see the Plumbob USB keychain that came with it. As soon as I pulled it out of the box, I saw the ring hanging from the carabiner. I was so excited that I immediately pulled out my camera and started to take pictures of it on the keychain before I even thought about looking at the ring.
Once I did, I started to cry! It was so beautiful! I looked at Mike who was also tearing up a bit then he asked me to marry him. I gave him the keychain and he put the ring on my finger. After that I immediatlely called Caitlin, and my oldest friend who made me promise that I would tell her before I announced it to Facebook. In the excitement of it all, it didn''t even occur to me that I forgot to say yes until 20 minutes later.
Here are some other pictures that I took that night.
Mike had the ring hidden behind the plumbob somehow. I couldn't figure out how to get it back there but you get the idea.
Here's a really bad picture of us right after he put my ring on.
Here's a close look at my ring. I'll try to get a better picture of the side sometime today. The side is my favorite part!
No picture post is complete without a picture of Lola, so here she is with Sims 3 and my ring.
I also really want to thank
syntheticjesso and
sparklyaria for helping Mike come up with this plan. It was definitely a proposal only Mike could pull off. Love you guys!
