Mommo Two found my torn dress after all
and just wasn 'ttellin me about it, at
least not till she told Dadda and the
other Daddas at class.
I don 'tknow it for a fact, but I 'mguessin
that it 'sgotta be so, as nothin else could
splain what happened.
There I was mindin my own business, sleepin
up in the attic and curled up next to Sarry,
when Dadda came up and grabbed me by my hair.
I was tryin real hard to get free but Dadda
'sa real big Dadda, so I was stuck, just
followin along and tryin not to get my hair
all torn out.
Once we were out on the street in the cold night
I stopped fightin though, because somethin wasn'
tright. After we walked down the path to the
lane, I could see the other Daddas all lined up
at the foot of the paths that headed up to their
houses. Dadda kept draggin me along up the lane
and the other Daddas joined up with us as we
passed em by. I was startin to get worried
when I realized that all the Daddas from our
neighborhood were comin along.
On
We
Marched
through the cold night, nobody sayin a word to
anyone else, specially not me. I could tell by
the way they pursed their lips and puffed their
breath that somethin bad was gonna happen real
soon though.
On
We
Marched
towards the SCHOOLHOUSE at the top of the lane,
the little buildin where everyone would go for
CLASS. I never heard about no CLASS bein taught
at night, nor even about people bein out at night,
and all the lights were out in the SCHOOLHOUSE...
all but one, and
On
We
MArched
I remembered that there were two rooms in the
SCHOOLHOUSE. There was the CLASSROOM, where
everybody met for CLASS, and that one didn 'thave
no lights on at all. And then
On
We
Marched
There was the other room, the room where they
kept the GORYBOOK.
Then we were there, and the door to the other
room was opened, and Dadda threw me in.
The Daddas all piled in after me and moved into
a circle about me. Then one of the Daddas picked
up the GORYBOOK and said, "In the GORYBOOK, it is
written that no man's dawter may of her own
will set foot across the line of his land..."
The rest of the Daddas undid their belts, and
drew them out from around their pants, and said,
"GORYBEE..."
The Dadda with the GORYBOOK started readin more
about Bad Girls but I didn 'thear anymore forcause
the rest of the Daddas started slingin their belts
at me, over and over again, beltin me with them
as hard as they could. One of the younger lookin
ones held his backwards and was beltin me with
the clasp part, and he was shoutin somethin over
and over... They were all shoutin and makin ugly
faces and yellin "Suffer not an Evil Dawter," but
the young one was screamin "GORYBEE! GORYBEE!
GORYBEE!" over an over, an he was beltin me so hard
and fast that I was bleedin on my arms, legs an face.
I never met Dadda Peterson who stole Fanna away from
me an Sarry, but I'll bet that was him, an if I ever
see him again he'll get his. It kept goin for ever
but finally the Dadda with the GORYBOOK finished
readin it, and said "GORYBEE" as he closed it.
Like that all the belts stopped, and the Daddas
put theirselves back together. After that they
shuffled out of the other room,
one
by
one.
Last of all, Dadda put out the light and left me
sittin in the dark by myself.
After a few minutes, when I could get the strength
to stand, I got back on my feet. I hurt so bad you
'dnever know. I crossed the floor, and leaned on the
door, and fell through it into the night.
Dadda was waitin outside. He said to me, "Do you
need me to carry you back home, or will you walk?"
But I wouldn 'tanswer him, till when he made a move
to lift me. I shouted "DON'T TOUCH ME!" and then
he swung and smashed my face, sayin, "Don 'tever
raise your voice to your Dadda! Now ANSWER ME!"
So I asked him if I could walk home, and he let me be.
It took me a long time, and I probally wouldn 'thave
made it, but Rocko met me up, and after he cleaned me
up for a bit, I used him to help me limp along home.
He was already gettin bigger, which was lucky for me,
but right then I wanted him to be the biggest kittakat
ever so I could ride him back and have him show Dadda
what 'swhat.
Anyhow, I'm gonna leave just like I planned, but first
I gotta set things straight for Sarry.
