001. baby, can't you see?

I guess I'll have to [re]evaluate which of the Zombieland rules apply here, on the Barge, but certain rules are just universal. And after much deliberation (and re-deliberation), I bring you Rule #33: Never leave a man behind. Or lady. As long as they haven't been zombified. Though at one point I was very much about the Every-man-for-himself ( Read more... )

Quite insightful. Welcome; despite the volley of naysayers you're likely to attract simply by not blessing us with a string of obscenities, I'm certain you'll do quite well. I'm the Doctor.

As for home... I suppose I'd have to say my ship. That is to say, not this ship, but mine. She's a loyal old girl; the best a nomad could ask for.

This may sound a bit odd, but... have you got any experience in first aid?

Thanks. I think. The doctor of what? [quietly goes OMGITCULDNTBE]

Your ship? Is it like this one?

Sort of. Is something wrong?

A bit of everything, I suppose. Only just now, a bit of medicine. There's been a... well, I'm not certain. But it's disintegrated many of the denizens, and we're a bit short-handed in the infirmary. Pardon my forward request, of course, but if you've come here to help, you've picked a perfectly opportune time to do so.

My ship is a bit like this one, but in a very distant sense. It's a bit difficult to explain, though I'd love to do so later over tea, if you're interested. Just now, we're all a bit busy.

I.. Sure, okay. Yes. I'll help. [you're the freaking DOCTOR, how could I say no :/]

I'm - interested! Later, yeah.

Reliable already. A splendid man, you. If you need directions, I'll be happy to give them, or some to find you- when I first arrived, the layout map I was given was a bit confusing at first.

Indeed. Let me know if you get lost. I'll be happy to explain what I know of the Barge, should you have questions, once you arrive.

[The Doctor nodded with a faint smile and tucked his reader onto the bedside table next to Draco, knowing it would beep for him if he was hailed through it; he went about the infirmary as he waited, checking upon those who weren't immediately attended by medical staff, as well as inquiring with the staff themselves in regards to procedures and supplies on occasion.]

[pokes his head through the doorway, almost getting bowled over by at least two separate people-] Uh. Hey. [holds up a hand, waving lamely as he approaches, looking worried] This place is kind of crazy.

[Well, if Columbus has his pop culture right, the Doctor should be hard to miss- who else would festoon themselves in so many question marks, especially on suspenders?- but alas, he doesn't recognise Columbus, having known him really only by his typing. Columbus is in luck anyway, however- the Doctor looks up from mopping a fevered brow with a warm wet cloth, flashing a thin smile.]

Certainly is, old chap. Don't think I've seen you 'round, but that's all right. I'm the Doctor- er, well, that is to say, not the Doctor of this room- that is- sod it, nevermind. Are you here to help, then?

Yep. Columbus. We spoke not to long ago. [blinks a bit, holding out a hand]

Oh, I see! Splendid; you've found your way here. [The hand is taken up in a hearty shake as the Doctor beams.] Marvelous. Those in charge whose instructions I trust the most at the moment are doctors McCoy and Jones- the irritable-looking man over there, and the lovely young lady there. [He points to them in turn.]

If you're versed in injections, phlebotomy or other sorts of advanced first aid, do let them know- otherwise, you'll be just as helpful with bandages, wet cloths, blankets and water. You'll ask them for medications and supplies as well- just let them know you're volunteering. Perhaps you'd like to help me with cloths against fever temperatures for the moment?

[nods, taking that all in] Sure. Where do you want me?

At the moment, I've just started going up and down the rows with cloths and a bucket. If you'd like to prepare them and see that the water stays warm, you may- or if you'd like, you can take one row while I take another. After that, we can see how we're needed from there. So, Columbus, where is it you're from?

[snorts a little at that, following the Doctor's lead-] Columbus, Ohio. Earth! 2009.
