Sunday my car got vandalized. Rocks hurled at it, alarm went off, just bad times. Yesterday morning, the house got broken into, and they stole my mom's truck, keys to my dad's truck and the house, and my dad's wallet. The police think that the two are connected. My first reaction, after the shock of the house thing wearing off (they broke in while we were all in here sleeping, and actually went into my parents' bedroom for the wallet and keys), was to get rid of my car. I looked at it from every angle, and decided that if I could get enough money on trade/sale to CarMax to cover my payoff on my loan (I'm not upside down, but dealerships are damn stingy, especially when they're "no haggle"), I would get rid of my xB and pick up a Mini Cooper. So yesterday, I cleaned the inside of the car, vacuumed the hell out of it and Febreeze'd every surface but the headliner. I recruited a friend with a manual transmission car to give me a refresher last night. I sat down and made a list of things that I need to do to my xB if I were to keep it. It's long and expensive, starting with an oil change and ending with replacing and painting both bumper covers and my hatch, with the added bonus of possibly repainting the whole thing.
This morning, I got showered and dressed in time to get to CarMax. Then, I started to slow down. Then, I dropped a mug on the hardwood stairs and had to clean that up. Now, I'm obviously writing a post. I'm not sure if this is me psychologically not wanting to start all over in what could end up as a 72-month car loan and going through the hassle of uncertain financing, insurance changing and paperwork, or just a bad morning. I'm too late to get to CarMax and still make it to work on time (their appraisals take 45 minutes to an hour). We're allegedly in for "wintry mix" tonight, so doing it tonight will be out of the question if I want to test drive a car while they're appraising mine. I literally can't tell if I'm just being lazy or I really don't want to go through the getting rid of my current car. I was really gung ho about it until last night.
