Auditioning!

Apr 18, 2011 10:40

I'm doing something I haven't done in a long time. I'm auditioning.

The William Street Players are a local theater company and they're holding open auditions today and Wednesday. Since I can't seem to get a job, I'm going to audition and ask about behind the scenes work like building sets and stuff. I haven't done anything like this since high school.

I've just got to do two monologues under five minutes total. I've got a funny monologue and a dramatic one. I almost did the holy hand grenade speech from Monty Python and the Holy Grail but found something for theater instead. I just picked my monologues today too so I'm probably going to audition on Wednesday when I've had two days to memorize and practice.

Although, I've been practicing and memorizing since nine this morning so I've got them both pretty much down. Pretty much down isn't good enough though. I want them to be good, since I don't know if I can do flawless but I'll try.

I'm not nervous, yet. I'll probably get an attack of the nerves when I actually audition but right now this is just something to fill all my free time. I don't know what my chances are at getting it, so I'm not terribly invested in getting in either. I think that's an advantage. I'm not freaking out. Yay! Now that I've said that I'm going to lose my cool and freak. Whee!

Anyway, that's what's going on in the world of the Moose. There's also snow. Damn snow.
