I killed my betta. I didn't filter the water or add water conditioner before I put him back into his tank when I moved, and the disgusting Galveston water must have done him in. He's not floating yet, but he's been laying on the bottom of the tank since yesterday, and he has fuzzy white stuff around his gills, which Susan said is from the bacteria in the water.
I keep getting all teared up. I mean, hello, it's a betta. But still. I remember picking him out at PetCo, and specifically wanting him because he was such a pretty turquoise color. He could never find his food in the bowl, and I had to wiggle my finger in the water to get his attention. He used to hide under his plastic plant when he was still in the bowl, and he started lurking in the stalks of the real plants I grew in his tank. I think that he secretly thought he was a ninja.
