Someone is holding on to Kevin Kelly's "The Logic of Reliable Inquiry", and I can't find out who it is. The book is already more than a week overdue. I think that people's concern for privacy too often prevents good things from happening.
I met my thesis supervisor (
Rens Bod) because he "stole" my copy of "An Architectonic for Science: The Structuralist Approach", i.e. forced me to return it. I only found out because the librarian put a tag with his name on the reservation desk... a terrible breach of his privacy!
It would also be a great social service if libraries allowed people to contact each other that way... but due to privacy concerns, what I get is "wij doen geen blind dates!"
