(I got desensitized to it initially, since I found out at the movie screenings what happened to Kamina before I myself started the series. Then came Parallel works video one, and adult Simon+Kamina together made me ;_______;)

Yeah, I was spoiled as well, perhapps I was following the angst? Pretty much everything that attracted me to the series at the beginning was somehow involving Kamina (even such things as the sound of his name*_*). And my mind hasn't changed a bit.
Hmm, at the beginning I held the teares back and just thought "that's beautiful" but when it came to me what actually happened and as they started to flow- there was no end to it ._. It has probably to do with the movies pacing (though I did tear up... has Aniki teached me to cry again? I don't recall being a crybaby,lol). I must say, rewatching the *nearly after* eps. is a torture orz.
And as for me, seeing (adult) Simon and Kamina always makes me nothing but happy :) Just as in the latest Parallel Works, whish there was more of that...
