Further Adventures in Fan Sound Tracks
After more than a month of slacking, long after everyone else forgot about it...
My bro the_sly_wink and I pop tons of boners for Gurren Lagann, and like she said when she posted the THE FIRST DISC, we got really stoked about the movies, and decided to put together a sort of two-disc FST set to celebrate. We were supposed to post them in the same week, but I'm a lazy terrible friend who gets all distracted by VIDEO GAMES.
But enough of that, how about this here music pile? I spent so much time on it, you should listen to it. I will show a track list, maybe you'll be interested!
I: STUPID ROBOTS
1. Let's Go Crazy - Riverboat Gamblers I tried to use as many covers as possible in this disc, hoping to reflect the habit the show had of borrowing elements from older robot shows and just jacking them up to 11. But then I only used two. At least I managed to open up with an awesome cover of a Prince song. Personally, I feel it fits in pretty well.
2. Giant Robot Bird-Head - The Aquabats One of my few "perfect fits" for this series, for real.
3. Unity - Reel Big Fish
II: MANLY TEARS FLOWED LIKE WATER
4. Under Pressure - David Bowie; Queen
5. Kids and Heroes - Bouncing Souls
6. Frontier Psychiatrist - The Avalanches
III: GEOMETRY AND MARITAL TROUBLE
7. Lately I Haven't Been Feeling That Well - Serengeti & Polyphonic With a name this long, it has to be good.
8. Goodbye I'm Gone - Another Robot Sunset this one was pretty much pitch perfect for the events that went down in Old Kamina City, I'm glad I came by it.
9. The Boys are Leaving Town - Japandroids
10. Lettuce - Move on Up The only other cover. The original was performed by Curtis Mayfield. Lettuce's version does a good job of sounding almost exactly like the original while adding a few new flourishes to the song, but Curtis's will always be the best.
IV: DESTROY THE OUTERSPACE HOLES
11. Still Goin' Through It - Sivon
12. Work to Do - Kidz in the Hall
13. That Dude - High Decibels I recently found out that this song was put onto the music rotation in American Eagle stores across the country. That really bummed me out. The song still rules though.
14. Heroes Get Remembered, Legends Never Die - Four Year Strong

16. Fly Me to the Moon - Skanatra Remember that giant robot show Gainax did before Gurren Lagann that got really popular for some reason? Yeah well fuck that show, TTGL in the house of the rising sun forever young sons.
