Yes. I had about 20 messages in my inbox asking me that exact same question. I'm not on anything much any more. There isn't enough hours in the day. If you REALLY need to email me, use my work email:
jglover0014@kctcs.edu I'm on that one literally 8 hours a day. I also have a new cell phone number. If I know you personally, email me at work and I will give it to you. :)
So..what have I been doing? School. Lots of school. School for me, school for the kiddos, and the school of hard knocks. If I'm not working, I'm studying. If I'm not studying, I'm at the kids' school helping out with whatever they need me to do. If I'm not at the kids' school I'm here at home...cleaning, studying or lately making goodie bags for about 100 kids...rubber stamped with their names on it. Why? Why the hell not? Its something that my parents never, ever did and I strive to not be like my parents in most aspects of my life. Next Friday I am going to Frankfort for advocacy training. Yes. Jess is an advocate for the little people if you didn't know that by now.
I've turned into an envirmental freak and not just because Al Gore was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize along with others that have helped him in his work. We're in "overshoot and collapse" mode people! Quit bitching about school levys, how Cincinnati does not need a light rail system (fuck yes we do!) and about how awful the outlook for our children is. Get off of your lazy asses, read a book or two (I suggest anything by Jared Diamond, Plan B 2.0 or Limits to Growth, The 30 Year Update) get out in your community and volunteer....anywhere. Don't give me the BS about not having time...because you have time to bitch...you have time to help out.
Kids. The kids are doing wonderful...for the most part. We had parent teacher conferences last night and Gabe has tested at "benchmark" in all areas. He did however get a "N" for social skills and positive attitude. Gabe is a grumpy old man. Do not bug him when he is coloring. He will yell at you. Sidney is doing great as well. She's on her way to reading whole starter books and has become quite a shoe and purse collector (I really do not know where she gets that at). Max has been taken out of 9th District for the moment and is attending the "partial" program at North Key. Max had an incident where he peed on another student (stop laughing). 9th District took this as Max "being in crisis" and insisted that I get him into an all day behavior/school group. As of yesterday, we found out that Max has a small urethra (screw spell check) and literally cannot control where his pee goes. He'll be back at 9th next week with a out patient surgery scheduled for sometime in November.
So now, I think I have found a balance... I think I can now manage my school, the kids' school, the PTA stuffs, the advocacy stuff and FINALLY get back to doing what I really want to do. Hunt some friggin' ghosts.
I did find some time to research our house. It was built in 1908. I've traced the owners back to the 1930s but have not managed to get up to the courthouse to do deed checks. Nick and I are in the process of getting the house on the Historic Registry.....which is a TON of paperwork. We are also working on getting our house off of the electrical grid completely. A PV (abbreviation for the big technical name of solar power) system will only cost about $7,000. So not only will our house be old, it will be green as well. Yay!
