Inspired by a very similar poll on Jezebel.com and by being bored at work, I bring you a poll. About genitals ( Read more... )

Surely it's context sensitive. When talking about my dick I refer to it differently depending on who I'm talking to or why. I would use 'penis' when talking to my doctor, 'cock' in a sexual context and either 'cock' or 'dick' in a general conversational setting. I imagine if I were female I'd use 'vagina', 'pussy' and 'cunt' as respective equivalents. I'm not one for beating around the bush, as it were; I think hiding your genitals behind euphemistic terms is symptomatic of a sense of shame and stigma about them. There is definitely a heirarchy of euphemism too; 'hoo ha' is ok-ish as it's kinda fun sounding, 'lady flower' makes my skin crawl and 'bajingo' is utterly reprehensible. In terms of male equivalency, 'chopper' and 'junk' have a certain swagger to them, 'schlong' should only ever be employed for comedy purposes (and lets face it, dick jokes are hella funny), and anything called a 'todger' or 'John Thomas' sounds like it belongs at the top of a football terrace wrapped around a sweaty meat pie.

It is, but it's also person sensitive.
I rarely use cunt when referring to actual genitals (and it annoys me that I don't) but other girls will happily refer to their cunt. I never use vagina, I'd find it hard to even say that in a medical setting, whereas someone above has said that's exactly what they do. I'm more interested in the person-to-person differences than the context ones.

And I've never heard 'bajingo' before.

For no reason I can fathom, having never heard it before, I LOVE 'bajingo'. It's hilarious. I may have to adopt it.

It ranks up there with 'shirt potatoes' for breasts.

A bajingo sounds like lots of fun. I kinda like it too.

It is from Scrubs. Which is excellent, and you should watch it if you havent...

Aye, I realised in another thread that I'd heard it before. I've watched all of Scrubs up to S3 but what I've seen of the following seasons makes it look like it's jumped the shark a bit.
