Think about it, this is the Netherworld. Land of Demons. You'd want to learn skills relevant to being a demon if you were at a Netherworld-based academy, at least in theory.
I'm only here to have some semblance to my former life.
I learn things outside of the classroom. I've done some exploring and interacting with the natives, along with the others like us. I've also played a few games of chess, and read whatever books I come across.
It seemed like a prudent warning, since you're not one of these super-powered demons. They do things a little differently around here, and that was the only way I could think of to get anyone to attend classes.
