SID - darling

Nov 28, 2014 23:04

How about quitting While we're ahead Now's as good a time as any
Why don't we Give it up already
Even if You Were to disappear
Who? Who would? Who would cry?

You, who spat Such words And hurled such caustic remarks at me
Your brand of good sense1
Was so awfully cold that Unwilling to subject to it
I Gradually Distanced myself

There was no answer Nor reason for obedience to be found So I went against you2

Sometime around tonight darling I'd wanted you to bring me All the way to that place
The moonlight darling Pained me so much, I went Don't Don't And cried

Avoiding the issue Getting torn apart3 I don't know any other way
To face it But I can't run from it Is there An end to this?

Your jealousy Left its mark on my cheek4
I hid it and smiled
Your messages Piling up by the boxful
Only Made me Live in fear

You're normally Sweet to me So I let it go And it just keeps happening again

Just as usual darling We keep relapsing To when we first met
And before I know it darling You've changed so completely It's like you're a different man

Avoiding the issue Getting torn apart I don't know any other way
To face it But I can't run from it Is there An end to this?

Since it's the last time You say we should end it smiling As though I could ever do that

Sometime around tonight darling I'd wanted you to bring me All the way to that place
The moonlight darling Pained me so much, I went Don't Don't And cried

Just as usual darling We keep relapsing To when we first met
And before I know it darling You've changed so completely It's like you're a different man

Avoiding the issue Getting torn apart I don't know any other way
To face it But I can't run from it Is there An end to this?

From the POV of a woman who finds it hard to leave an abusive boyfriend.

1 He prolly didn't intend it to be, but what he said here was ironically sound advice-she should leave him for her own good. Unfortunately, he said it out of spite so it had the opposite effect. It hurt her so much that she couldn't deal with the notion and responded by distancing herself / putting out of mind.

2 ...Related to point 1, she went against his words in the first verse by... continuing to stay with him... which is the most useless show of defiance.

3 Just a note here that Mao chose words that are both pronounced "sakeru" for "avoiding the issue" and "getting torn apart".

4 He hit her, basically.
