How many lifetimes must we dance this dance? How long can you glide to one song? By observation, we can't even keep one tune...breaking off, inviting new rhythms into hearts and ears, stamping those feet to another beat, eventually skipping tracks, coming back to the beginning, dancing all over, writhing, spinning, twirling, whirling... Play a little of this, a lot of that, sweet songs, nubile notes, crashing crescendoes from a thousand different artists, with a million different dances, how can one be expected to hum one tune? Perhaps, then, one must look to the themes of our life-dances, that flowing pace that enters into each dance that used to stand alone as one song...
I can shuck the rest and divine my own favorite...
...And as for my favorite, how many lifetimes must I pine over this one song?
Unanswerable questions, wholly
dependant on me.
Feet, set to marching
The beat, my own drum
The song, spun in the wake of emotion,
that sets my momentum to music,
and all that stands out are the lyrics, my own true refrain:
"You wanted this. You wanted this. You... wanted...this..."
Fade out.
I'm spent.
