Life Support Holiday Party

Dec 23, 2009 21:22

In the main bar, around lunchtime on Christmas day, the party is set up. Free lunch, drinks, party games, and a Life Support session afterwards for anyone feeling in need of support during this festive period.

A big sign is up on the wall behind the party.

There's a free lunch, either Christmas lunch, another holiday lunch, or dietary varients of such.

There's a relatively small, but still more than adequate, selection of digital foods, kept carefully separate from the rest and labeled. It gives the general impression that a traveling salesman purveying plastic foods for restaurant window displays is running a seasonal sale.

Enzo has taken some turkey and one of those little pies, and is inspecting with interest a dark brown cannonball-like object with a sprig of holly on top.

"Hey Enzo, Merry Christmas." Guppy says, coming over.

"Did we get the food right?"

"Merry Christmas! It sure looks like!"

He hasn't started eating yet, but it smells good, and there's something unmistakable about the texture.

"Is this one of those pudding things?" he asks, pointing to the sphere. "They talked about them in that Christmas Carol book."

No strong alcohol, but plenty of lighter drinks.

There is a choice of Jenga, Twister, or Pin the Tail on the Reindeer.

Guppy, who usually has a good surgeon's hand, has a precariously balanced Jenga tower and a brick that he has half extracted.

"Hey Doc." Connor moves over, and he does look worried. "You have a minute?"

"Yep." Guppy says, moving the brick. The tower wobbles but remains upright. "S'up?"

For anyone who wants someone to talk to, not to be alone for Christmas, that sort of thing. Once the lunch is cleared away, the circle of chairs is out as usual.
