(Guy is pacing back and forth in the room in which his friend works.)
GUY’S FRIEND
So do it then. What the fuck are you waiting for? Do it!
GUY
I know, I know. I’m going. - (pause) - Wait…Maybe I should wait a wile, just a day or so, to make sure she really likes me.
GUY’S FRIEND
What?!? Are you fucking kidding me? Go!! Right now. Go! The longer you wait the worse it’s going to get. You know she likes you, we all do. We’ve seen the way she looks at you. She smiles then giggles, because -
(Guy stops pacing and stands still, dead still and looks at his friend.)
GUY
Wait…you and who? Who have you been talking to about this? I thought I told you that…. Who did you tell?
GUY’S FRIEND
Ohhhh… No one really, just Jerry and Lisa - (Pause) - … and maybe Stacy too.
GUY
What?... Why?
GUY’S FRIEND
I don’t know. It was just on my mind. Why do you care so much anyway?
GUY
I don’t know. It just doesn’t sound so good with everyone talking about this. Everyone will be talking about me and looking at me now. It just doesn’t feel right.
GUY’S FRIEND
Who cares if people talk about you? It just means they like you. Jesse, don’t get so fucking critical, I just thought it was nice to show others how happy you were.
