I have been on a side solo mission for the past few days and have been completely out of touch.

It is not likely to end of its own accord. It occurred because of a single death, but it has gone far beyond that, now.

There seems to be a split opinion on the issue.

Oh, perhaps. There are those on both sides who will not stop until there has been more bloodshed, but I am not actually sure as of yet how much it qualifies as a war, rather than just a conflict. Either way, it is probably a fire at the very least.
