Unemployment Machine 2: Day 5

Jun 23, 2008 00:54

Tomorrow I will begin to personally gentrify Harlem.

At 5:51 PM my residence in the Big Apple begins. I don't want you to think that its all about the puffing my chest up and feeling like a bad ass. Tonight as I was packing Wendi started to cry. It could have been the drinking we did on the boat all afternoon, but I also sensed some real emotion behind it.
Who the hell am I kidding? I almost cried too. Tomorrow I will be surprised if my eyes are dry as I get on the plane. Its only temporary but its the longest we have ever had to be apart.
98 mile bike ride was awesome. It was perhaps one of the most intense things I have ever done. Around the 10th hour we caught the wind behind us and had a renewed burst of energy. As we were blazing down the trail at 19 mph I couldn't help but the feel the excitement of a 9 year old who rode his bike too far from home and couldn't hear his mom calling him to come inside for the night.
Here are some pictures.

Not nearly as cool as it sounds.
