Is it a customary Halloween ritual to leave such parts lying around?

What are customary Halloween rituals? I have heard talks of it at home, however, never experienced it.

Carving pumpkins is a custom around this time of the year. Originated from Ireland, I believe.

Some, yes. You can carve them how ever you wish.

You know the purpose behind it?

A legend claims that the reasoning behind it stems back to a man named Jack, who was denied entry into both Heaven and Hell once he died. The tale goes that Jack received an ember from Satan that he used in a hollowed-out turnip as a makeshift lantern, and he would endlessly roam the Earth for a resting place with only his lantern as his light.

Why does the tradition still exist, when it is known that heaven and hell do not exist?

Old customs do not die easily, especially if there are those who still believe in them.

In my universe, that belief has been firmly dispelled.

Then I can assume that you will not be carving a pumpkin?

I will do it so I can experience the custom.
