Kids.. don't get credit cards. Ever.
So yesterday I got my credit card statement in the mail. My interest rate jumped from 13% to 28%! Now they tell you this can happen if you were late on a payment, but I hadn't missed any. So I call them up and they tell me that because I have a few other credit cards that are near their limits, they increased the credit rate. Of course this makes no sense to me and such a huge rate increase is insane, so now I have to cancel that card and pay it off ASAP so I minimize the amount of screwing I take.
So the lesson is.. kids.. don't get credit cards. Even when you make all your payments on time they will find some way get you.
This also happens on a day when I find out that I can't take my emissions test for my car because of a defective part that VW knows about but won't replace free because I'm not the original owner. Cost of repairs so that I can legally drive this car (because they changed the rules for emissions testing so I fail even though there are no emissions problems) = $1000+
