My friend Jon recently posted this on facebook:
"Lucy's productive vocabulary to date: Hi, bye bye, mama, mami, daddy, papi, apple, banana, pio pio, queso, clean up, night night, shoe, mickey, bebe, thank you, agua, si, no, Lana, uhm, gracias, Dit Dit Dit Dit Da Dora, sube, baja, choo choo, baila, tea, mas, Ari, it’s ok, please, sucio, cookie, quack quack, bow wow wow, uva, doggy, a...ll gone.
It must be pretty hard with only these words...no wonder she cries"
Lucy, as you may have guessed, is his daughter. She's 19 months.
His post made me want to post something here to help me keep track/remember what's on Wintress' mind, or on the tip of her tongue, these days. She says: mama, papa, uh-oh, Get it!, bear, moo, ball, water, ba-ba (bottle), again, bye-bye, hi, *roar* <-- in reference to what a bear says, bock-bock (chicken says...), all gone, boom-boom-boom, bath, brrrrr... (I admit it; I often talk about how cold it is.)...
Admittedly, most of those words the majority of people probably would not recognize. For example, water is only slightly different from ba-ba, but I can easily hear that difference now. Also, "all gone" sounds an awful lot like "uh-oh," but again, I can hear the difference and can tell what she's saying. Luckily, for now she is satisfied with her vocabulary and doesn't yet cry out of frustration for not being able to tell me what she wants beyond those things. Also, "uh-oh" and "Get it!" are often said hand in hand, usually when she throws something down, not an "uh-oh" at all, but she gets such a kick out of seeing that I understand her when I pick up whatever object that has "fallen." This kid cracks me up.
