One of the main entrances to Canyonlands National Park is just a few mile north of Arches, on the opposite side of the road. We visited Canyonlands the day after Arches. Before our trip, we heard a couple of people express the opinion that Arches was a much more beautiful park than Canyonlands, so we weren't sure what to expect.
Admittedly, the hiking trails in Canyonlands didn't really compare to those in Arches (from what we could tell, anyway), but we thought the scenery was just as spectacular, though very different. In Arches, you were always looking up at the spectacular sights. In Canyonlands, you were looking down at them.
This raven joined us for lunch.
For perspective here, the white lines snaking toward (and around) the rim are roads. The Green River is visible at the bottom. At the time I took this picture, a large white-water raft was going around the bend in the river. You couldn't see the raft without binoculars, and you can't tell it is even there in the picture.
You all should know by now that I can't go on a trip without taking a picture of at least one lizard.

It was a beautiful sunset.
