Of swamps and haircuts

I'm rolling on the WMD book, finally. Got chapter 3 organized in a logical fashion (half the battle), pretty much following the DHS's UTL for content. Of course, that means the original outline was tossed out the window, but hopefully the committee won't care too much. At this point, I don't think I'm capable of following an original outline to save my life. I also get to proof chapter 2 of Vehicle Extrication today for Jeff. And sometime next week, I need to go over comments on the NFPA 472 draft before the meeting in Phoenix. Lots to do.

I ended up with headaches at work Monday and Tuesday, probably because of my eyes, so I'm back in reading glasses, and that seems to be helping. Thankfully. So sad, though; I hate the greasy feeling I get when they slowly start sliding down my nose. Which happens, of course, as soon as I push them back up my nose. Perhaps I should try duct tape.

I got my hair cut yesterday. I wanted something different, so it's very short again. Kate was surprised, but broke into a big grin. "You look very dykely!" "Thanks!" (I think.) I wonder how long it will be before somebody calls me "sir." Shouldn't be too long. Maybe I should start a betting pool...

Friday I loaned Ben all of my Dr. Who books... a large box of them, including three coffee-table books with lots of inside info. Hopefully he and Elaine will be up to snuff on Dr. Who when we start watching next week. Sadly, I'm looking forward to Dr. Who more than I'm looking forward to tomorrow's Stargate SG-1 season-ending cliffhanger.

My Eastern philosophy quote for the day is:
"Few among men are they who cross over to the further shore. The others merely run up and down the bank on this side." - Dhammapada

And then, of course, are those of us who paddle out into the middle of the river, get swept downstream, and end up flopping around in a swamp.
