Major Problems

Apr 07, 2007 10:31

So if you saw my last two entries you know that bad things were going down. I hate it when I doubt my ability to do this major. I still maintain that I'm not that particularly talented, but I know I can work at it. That and there will always be somewhere that I can get a job. Hmmm.

Last Sunday: Grilled

When I got home from work Dan and Jeremy were grilling outside so I asked them to do one of my chicken breasts too. There was assorted despair from me. And I asked them to write "Text Support" as many different ways as they could think of so I could maybe find a writing sample for my planner's logo.

Last Monday: Overclocked

Was with Jeremy in the terrace till late o'clock doing homework for the next day. Tried a bunch of different methods for the logo, none of which were satisfactory.

Last Tuesday: The Passion

Kim took me out to Golgotha, or The Place of the Skull, to kill me. At the beginning of class she walked in and saw my stuff on the wall and was like "Adrian... what's wrong?" I was heartbroken. I looked at Mike like 'what now?' and he didn't know what to tell me. I couldn't even respond to her. Then she yelled at me in front of the class for about ten minutes. Skipped Web 2, wrote her that e-mail I posted, was sad in the library with Kahara and Kelly.
Kelly went to her independent study group, which Kim is the teacher of, and Kelly asked about me outright. They talked, Kelly said I was doing a new fold-up pocket size form and Kim liked it. Kelly came back afterwards to tell me that that was the format I should use. I started formulating a new logo as I would need to print it the next morning during the only print lab hours.

Last Wednesday: Tweaker

Spent the whole morning in the lab refining my logo and getting feedback from classmates Adam, Michael, Dana, and Erich. The night before Kahara and Kelly weighed in. I'd also gotten AIM feedback from Heidi, Brandon, and Katie. Fortunately everyone picked the same one as the best so I worked it over a bit.
Went to Film History Discussion, got handed a research paper outline, because I have time for that.
After 309 Kahara and I went to the Gasthaus with Jacob to eat and meet with Kelly to assign work for our website for the weekend. Then back to Kahara's to cut and mount our logos on boards.

Last Thursday: The Return

A miracle occurred and Kim liked my new logo, it needed some tweaking for sure, but was much better than anything else I had made over the previous weeks (it's a hand with 'text support' written on the palm). Then, because she liked my new format, I was on top of the world and gave some good feedback to other people during our class-long critique. And I could see that she was happy to see me in good form.
Everyone was around at the Table, even Ashley, Jeremy, and Xavier. Pam was going through a bridal magazine looking for dresses. Ashley and Xavier were talking about Salvador Dali's would-be gay lover poet friend. I loved it.
After everyone left I was working on the architecture for our site and Kahara called to invite me with her and Jacob to go to Chin's and use their free appetizer coupons. It was delicious. At home I fell asleep everywhere while watching Coupling, woke up at 3am, still needed to write my Web 2 essay due every friday, did the reading and the essaying, went to bed at 5, and got up at 6:30 to start readying for work.

Last Friday: The Future

Worked 9-5:30 so I went to a movie with Allie. Beforehand I killed time at my mom's house where there was baby cuteness. At Mayfair we went through Barnes & Noble, which is always a good thing. There was Chocolate Covered Strawberry espresso shotted Frappuccino at Starbucks to fuel up for the movie (edit: we saw Premonition, because I need more Sandra Bullock in my life), which we enjoyed. Lots of people online criticize it for not making sense, but it's a time travel movie and every day lived set a new timeline in motion. Silly IMDB bitches.

Off to work with me, but I do hope to do more LJ when I get back.
Yay for not working tomorrow cuz it's Easter!
