I wrote this yesterday during the day at the house. Internet of stolenness hasn't been working though so I post it now while I'm at my mom's house. Ben's at his family dinner and I had him drop me off here on the way so I could watch Project Runway on the DVR.
Behold:
At some point in time I might get to enjoy the downtownness of living downtown. Maybe Sunday? I don't work tomorrow so maybe I'll go see a movie or something. All I know for sure is that at some point in the day Ben has to take me up to Jewel so that I can... eat. Sillyness.
Seems like I got to enjoy this neighborhood more before I moved here. Last last week Monday (July 17) I packed up for adventure and bussed down here to hang out with Adam. On the way I listened to the CDs I bought the previous night when I was with Ben and Cody. I was in some sort of mood, must have been on E, cuz I was loving everything. I had listened to Muse and Cheyenne Kimball the night before in entirety, but not KT Tunstall because I was afraid I wouldn't like that many songs off the CD. But I was rather wrong because I loved that CD most of all. It was like saving me from my sins as I stood at the bus stop and liquified. I sent Allie a text about it. She was afraid for me.
At Adams Bryn and Jay were watching Puss in Boots with Christopher Walken and I was confused and frightened. Kim Huff came by with some guy named Chris (I think). Someone tossed out a suggestion of Buffy Musical singalong because we all knew all or most of the words. It was so good. Bryn went to shower but made sure she was back out in time for us to do our messy Spike and Buffy kiss at the end.
Rent got tossed in afterwards, but Adam and I lost conviction in the midst of our desire for Pizza Shuttle. We all (sans Bryn) walked up there to eat. Some obnoxious unwashed guy was asking me questions about Live Journal because he saw me looking at it on my laptop. He said that it requires money to sign up now. I said I didn't know. He assured me it was so. Then he tried to insist there was some sort of difference between Live Journal and Dead Journal. I was like no... they do the same things. He continued to insist. No. They have different names, yes, but are the same thing. Gaaaaah. I wanted to kick him in the face. Then he talked about going back to school, but his age was a closely guarded secret. Sadly it was public knowledge that he was gross and short on friends (and long on ponytail. shudder).
Kim, Chris, and Jay dissipated. Bryn went to Node for a while. When Adam and I got back Ben called me. He had called me earlier in the day when he woke up (as per usual) but eight hours ish had passed so we actually had new stuff to talk about. By this point in time he called often enough where all we ever had to say to each other was what we had done in the hours since last talking. (though this streak ended later this week). lol. So he and I talked for a half hour or so. Adam was on the computer. Bryn came back. We started watching All American Girl, which was Margaret Cho's sitcom from the early 90s. There were many episodes of that. I really wanted ice cream so Adam and I walked up to Walgreens. We put in the Rules of Attraction, but didn't last long before falling asleep.
The next morning (Tuesday, July 18) I woke up at like 9 or possibly earlier to Ben calling me. He was calling to tell me that he was up early. dotdotdot. Big news I guess considering he hadn't gotten out of bed before like two at any given day in the previous week.
Finished Rules of Attraction. Adam was still sleeping, but he woke up when he heard the menu music for Party Monster, the movie I picked out next. Watched that. Bryn got up. Made hot dogs. Bryn and Adam were talking about the awesomeness of their combined DVD collection. I talked about how in using it I had viewed far too many suicide attempts that morning (like three or four between both movies, lol).
I got going a bit after noon and figured I would stop in the Exclusive Company on the way to the bust stop. This wasn't a 20 minute peek so much as a 2 hour perusal of ever section. I looked at every band card there. Went through the used section. Bought Based On A True Story by The Starting Line. Rocksteady by No Doubt, and A City By Light Divided by Thursday. Got on the bus. Read EW. Ben called to say that he fell asleep after he called me. Till like 3. Oh Ben.
At home I mowed the lawn and did nothing in Facebook albuming till Ben called again. We couldn't decide if we wanted to do anything seeing how he didn't have money for gas and if he did use up what he had what would we do? Thursday's CD was said by EW to be as good as Taking Back Sunday's last one (Louder Now) but it was thoroughly unimpressive. Blotchy and screamy and useless. The Starting Line I actually ended up liking pretty well. In the past two weeks I kept putting it on as background pop punk indistinct, but in doing so it turned into something I really enjoyeyd. And Rocksteady I forgot how much I liked. I listened to it once in full when at Jenna Graebert's house overnight with Nate one time in junior year. That night she made us quesadillas and hot tubbed because she was hardcore trying to get in Nate's pants. Jenna went to bed. Then Nate fell asleep on the couch. I was over at some desk drawing and listening to it and I remember liking it. Hence buying it three years later on a whim at a discounted price...
Wednesday I know I LJed about at some point that week. When Ben, Nate, and I went to Applebees and then Nate and I decided to resurrect Magic and played it till almost 7am on Thursday. Segue tap dance segue.
Thursday (July 20) we woke up at like noon or noon thirty. I did at least. I was drawing and listening to my iPod while Giles molested me from on high. I was designing short jackets, purses, and dresses.
I had said that I wanted to go eat at the Ale House (where Nate works) because I used to visit him at Baker's Square on a moderately regular basis, I couldn't at Outback cuz it was so far north in Fox Point, couldn't at Cafe Lu Lu cuz he only worked there for like two weeks, and wanted to at Ale House to see what it was like. He thought it was a nice idea. We went there around 3 cuz his shift started at 4.
I took some change with me to feed the meter his car was parked at and I saw the 15 go by. I had time to kill before the next one so did some walking around. I quickly decided that I wouldn't be getting the next 15 either. I just kept walking. Taking pictures even though my display screen was faded, blotchy, and... scrolling... and listening to music. It felt very downtown to me. I stopped in a boutique and took pictures of their stuff I liked. Walked through some construction. Went in parking lots and alleys and saw some cooks, both portly and gangly, on a smoke break. I ended up in the heart of downtown ish on Wisconsin Ave. I saw buildings I recognized along the way because of walking around with Peter (and Adam) on our trip to Downtown books (randomly through downtown). Went in a parking structure and came out at an exit that was blocked off because it was being rebuilt so I nimbled through the tape. Cuz, you know, I'M limber.
An hour or two had passed by this point. I found the 18 stop and decided it would be the best way home cuz it goes straight to my mom's house. But first the Clearance signs for Old Navy in Grand Avenue across the street were calling. I looked around for a very long time because I like to consider everything when clothing shopping. Luckily the shirts don't fit me because I still need 3XL so I only had to focus on pants/shorts. Lots of shorts were on clearance for good reason because they were stupid, ugly, or fit funny. One pair of jeans was 40 waist and fit me all snug on the waist and totally couldn't handle my thunder thighs, but another 40 I tried on fit fine around the waist and comfortably as all get out on my thighs. They were both like loose straight fit too. I don't know what was up with that. But I got two pairs of cargo shorts, new khaki pants, a pair of jeans (that had mild destroying but enough for me to deal with most likely), and boxers for only 30 dollars. I called my mom to tell her that (and that I was coming home soon) and she was proud.
An Asian exchange store thing was going out of business so everything was 75% off. I got two lanterns (which have been a continuous struggle to arrange in our living room) and got to watch the store owners aruge with some haggling Middle Eastern people. I loved it. I called Allie to talk about lanterns and see about hanging out soonish.
Mary called around this time to plant the seeds of the Table meeting at George Webbs.
