Outback Steakhouse was hoppin' when I arrived at 6:30 so Adam was unable to go as originally planned. No prob. I crossed the street to Barnes & Noble and skimmed magazines. I pickecd up Vanity Fair because Lindsay Lohan had an interview where she talked about her problems with her dad, how she let partying go too far, how she asked too much of Fez from That 70s Show, how she melted down because she got sick, and how she decided to beat bulemia and come back with a hit song. Not that I read it in depth or anything... lol. It was actually really cool and made me feel unguilty again about liking her a lot. I must say I learned a lot about life from that issue of Vanity Fair. *facial expression*.
Back at Outback (back at back back back in back--) I sat with Adam, who had already ordered sodas, and we got some employee priced hamburgers. Yummy. Karen (of Table fame) joined us and we sat and takled with our server Chris, who was tired and in need of booze apparently. He was talking about watching Elimidate and some marshmallow melting that went on and how it looked like certain sex acts. "So, speaking of messy facials, when is our bread coming again!?" I don't know if he appreciated that comment or not... but it got us our bread god durnit.
Karen's mom is over/uber protective so she had to call in the say where she was going, who with, for how long, and she had to call in once she was driving home alone so her mom could... I don't know, time her? punch clock her? smother her. Oh wait, already doing that. lol. We got directions to the Outback Steakhouse Party thing at AMF bolwing from some David guy that works there (the one Steph spoke of a while back) and everyone was acting like it was some big deal or we were gonna get lost, but I knew exactly where we were going. Trust my navigashonal skilllez peeple.
At first it was rather slow. But there was food. Gah, why did we eat burgers before coming? Some girls named Adriana and Gina joined us, along with afforementioned David, for bowling. Adam and I reflected on how this was the second AMF in as many nights. Wee. I decided to not bowl cuz mag skimming earlier gave me the fashion/drawing bug. Drawing notebooks and black lights is a sexy sexy combination.
After that the Karaoke began (10pm) and Adam was the first signed up. No one else was doing it at first. They had to get in the groove. I stood at the bar for over 15 minutes trying to get a soda while everyone else around me was served first. Blargh. Then fielded a call from dearest Benjamin and decided that we should definately go visit Allie next week.
More karaoke occurred. More drinking occurred (for others obviously). And more and more. It was quite fun. Scenes like this are interesting because it is what the majority of the adult population does for fun, bar culture that is. It's... ok, but would quickly get old I'd think. I prefer to do things that are more accomodating to conversation. I spent most of my time with Adam mouthing along lyrics to songs and then I would scan and evaluate what all the girls were wearing. I recognized two guy's shirst as coming from The Gap. I'm not sure yet if being able to notice that makes me a bad person or not.
Events like this are always snap back to reality reminders of just how much people love country. I swear, bars are all rap and country. With a smattering of dance surprisingly.
They had Be My Escape by Relient K and I almost creamed. I wanted to get up and sing, but I've never had the nerves for karaoke. Maybe at State Fair... That and what would they introduce me as? "Adrian not from Greenfield but close enough"? Maybe. It would have felt about as appropriate as the time that Nate brought me to the Inspo Christmas party. LOL. Not that that wasn't amazing. I got so many dirty looks for my dirty looks jar that day...
It was also fun to notice how it was half young people and half mexicans of assorted ages (the cooks and cleaners I'd imagine). In the bathroom I heard a mexican guy walk in and proclaim to another who was peeing about all the "fucking caliente mamasitas." I almost died of awesomeness/laughing on the inside.
Driving home Karen kept asking if she was going in the right direction and we were like YES. But then we actually ended up going past highway 100. oops. So we went down 92nd, which I knew didn't go through. Curved into Watertown Plank Rd. which went by Froedert, and then we ended up just taking the to-Wisco route and going past state fair and such... to my house. It was so convoluted, but much more fun that way. We were talking about getting lost forever even though I knew where we were. And it was just hilarious and after a whole night of Karen opting to sit in the corner it was nice to see girl participating in the fun. Finally got to my house.
"Now remember that your mom asked you to call her once you drop Adam off."
"Yeah, I remember."
"Just be like 'yeah i'm going to drive home alone now and get raped'. And then be like 'I'm on my way home and a racoon just broke into the car and is raping me in every hole'."
"I think Adam is having a seizure..."
*Adam spazzes out everywhere*
"I think I just shook like a retarded kid. *repeats spastic action.
And now I'm home. Wish I could have gone to Adam's a bit, but I need to shower tomorrow morning. And get back into the groove of school going in teh morning with my mum.
Allie. Certainly don't worry about making a bunch of entries. I'd actually be concerned if you DIDN'T make them. Sorry I wasn't around when the bomb dropped like the others were. Hopefully our trip to see you next week will be uplifting.
Hugs in my heart.
