I'm gone for not even 3 days, and I don't know what the hell is going on around here

So my mom decides that she wants us to go to my grandmother's trailer in the Poconos. We couldn't go on Saturday, cause she had to serve at mass, so she said, okay, we'll go Sunday and come back on Monday. Her main reason for going: because I have to go to the pool and get some sun, because I'm too pale. Which I prefer to risking getting skin cancer, but that's besides the point. And while I like the Poconos well enough, I wasn't exactly hyped up about the trip, partly because that's the only place we ever go to for vacation, partly because the reason for the previous statement is that we couldn't leave Heather behind (she hated the kennel) and besides not needing to now that she's gone, it made me sad to think of her not being there, but I figured, what harm could a day do? And being that I've gotten absolutely no calls from any place I applied to, I figured I wouldn't be getting any calls from Burger King or Toys R'Us, which I applied to on Saturday (making 10), so I figured there was nothing to worry about. Plus I put Tuesday as the day I would be available to begin on my application, so I thought my bases were covered. How wrong I was, but I'll get to that in a minute.
So the first thing that's wrong is they wake me up really early on Sunday morning, so we can leave, which was really annoying. And because of me apparently, we got caught in traffic in the Bronx for a while, which I have no recollection of except the initial notion, because I was so tired that I fell asleep in the car. You would think they'd be a little sympathetic about that, but no. Then we stopped to get gas in New Jersey and got food from this diner Grandma likes. And right before we got there, we went to the American Candle Factory and bought 2 pounds of candy. Because of those things, the trip took almost 4 hours, whereas it should have been less than 3. So as soon as we get there, we have a quick lunch and then head straight for the pool. There were a few things that bothered me about this. First, I can't swim, so I can't be in water any higher than my head, which leaves me with the little kids and their parents. As if I didn't feel embarrassed enough about that one, there are other matters of my self-image that I have no desire to share with the class. The only saving grace, for that day anyway, was that after 10 minutes, there was thunder and the lifeguards said everyone out of the pool. So I thought I was safe, but apparently only for the day. After that we returned to the trailer, where my mom found spaghetti and my dad barbecued. I tried to take a nap, to make up my sleep, but that attempt was also disturbed, as we had to go to Bill's, the supermarket and get yucky coldcuts (at least in my opinion, I hate that stuff) and milk, since my grandmother has a habit of letting things expire. Then we tried to go to a drive-in movie, but the only things they had were House of Wax and Batman Begins, and as our luck would have it, House of Wax was playing first, so we just went home and watched quasi-cable tv, that is, the 43 channels provided to the entire community of Eagle Lake, including their own special channel. Needless to say, that was the only thing that attracted me to the trip. I was able to see Mulan on Sunday, and then when I woke up Monday morning, I watched Arthur, Power Rangers Generations, a k a old episodes of Power Rangers, it was my luck that they were showing Power Rangers in Space, which is my favorite, and W.I.T.C.H, which I don't know what happened to on regular tv. Then I was dragged to the pool again, because Dad had only gotten a second to swim on Sunday before we had to get out. I at first refused to go in, but my mother resorted to bribing me with a present from the craftstore we were going to later on. As if I wasn't mad enough, because I checked our messages, and someone called on Sunday about an interview about Burger King, and of course we weren't home. So I was really upset about that, and I still don't know what to do, because I've been trying to call them all day as soon as I got home, and I can't get through. But I went, for about 25 minutes this time, and then got out and nearly froze to death. Even though I washed the clorine out of my hair afterward, I still have this poofy thing going on that bothers me, probably because I didn't have the proper comb. Then we went shopping- I got two pairs of knitting needles and a crochet hook, and mom stocked up on 4th of July stuff. Then we went to the new mall there, and I got, for 5 dollars each, the soundtrack of Top Gun on tape for my dad (well, that's what I said, anyway, I really like "Take My Breath Away") and a used Ricky Martin CD. A spanish one, not the Livin' la Vida Loca stuff, I mean. I got a taco to hold myself over for a bit, and then we went to Mendicino's, the pizza place there. If you can call it a pizza place. I must say, there is no place like New York for food. You couldn't get a slice of anything but plain "red" pizza, their soup was extremely creamy, and they actually use American cheese on their white pizza, with no ricotta in sight! Call yourselves a pizza place indeed. Then we went to a hardware store, in the hopes of raising our spirits before we went back to the trailer. Mom saw Sex in the City for the first time, and was quite shocked by it; whereas I stuck to reruns of sitcoms for most of the night, since there wasn't much else good on. Then this morning, I watched more Power Rangers while Mom was doing the laundry before we left. We got back and I began trying to call Burger King (how ironic that that's the one place which would consider hiring me, considering my feelings on the fast food industry) back, but it was like out of service or something. So I'm going to go tomorrow and possibly beg them for an interview, because I'm a bit desperate at this point. And that's the only place that even wanted to interview me, anyway. Hopefully they'll give me a job, because I'm running out of options. So wish me luck! And boy, is it good to be home.
