Dani moved around the kitchen and poured milk into her cereal. She listened to her mother lecture about the dangers of never eating breakfast. Dani found things were more descriptive in Farsi, including her mother's very detailed description about the imaginary hole in Dani's stomach lining.
"Ma, I get it, I'm eating cereals."
Her mother replied and Dani placed the milk carton on the counter. "It's food, people eat cereals for breakfast!"
Her mother wasn't listening, now for she seemed to be adding cereal makers to the list of people who aggrieved her. Dani knew her mother placed her father on the top of the list, she told Dani so during Thanksgiving last year.
"Mamaan, let's not get off track, I just called because I wanted to ask about dad's--"
Oh, here we go. Mamaan started in on cursing her father's name, his clothes, his golf clubs and what did Dani mean she only called to ask after her no good father? Didn't she call for her mamaan as well?
Dani facepalmed. It was going to be a long morning.
(Open! Dani will welcome any distraction!)
