i've toyed with the idea of having some of my photography professionally blown up for the purpose of my framing them for a gallery showing. some of the shots have been commented as quite good by many of my friends and peers who have examined my work. i'm by no means a great photographer, but every once in awhile i luck out on some fantastic shots.
i was then thinking, the ticket booth at work is REALLY ugly. and colourless. basically boring. so i had a thought *light bulb* i can take some of the black cardboard sheets, and in the manner of the expose sheet i made for melissa's res room create a series of advertisement-style posters of the park and it's natural glory. i aim to complete shots from as many trails as i can, mike lake (since that's the only place i don't really have) and take a few shots around the campground. that way, i'll complete the photo cycle and have an actual purpose to my sheets. we can either put them in the office (which desperately needs colour) and/or get them to move the locked message case up to the doorside of the booth and display them there, complete with maps of the hiking trails and information on each location...that way campers can answer their own questions unless it's something they'd really like to talk to us about (since most of them just want to know what trails there are, where to park their cars, how long the hikes are, and what to expect to see). of course we don't mind talking to campers about the park, as a matter of fact we love it...but i'm sure you've all seen the summer lineups around there--even i'd be frustrated to have to wait some days. it's probably a pretty foul idea, but right now, it sounds pretty good :P
so, here's a question for you: if you were a camper, and you had a few general questions about the area, would an information board about the trails, various lakes, and parking info, complete with pictures and maps, be of any interest to you? of would you prefer to wait to speak to one of the operators? would it seem like we "weren't interested" in helping you if you had a board to check out? or would you be happy not to wait in line? any feedback, negative or positive you have on this little scheme would be greatly appreciated...i'd like to have a few opinions weighed before i pitch the idea. that way i'll actually sound like i thought about and researched the idea a bit.
