(no subject)
So, me and some kids at Dillard formed a funk band and won this talent show this afternoon to play at this festival!
The newspaper was at this competition and everything-- anyway, we WON, and will be playing in front of thousands of people on March 24th.
We will be using the same stage as INDIA ARIE and SERGIO MENDES.
Honestly, i didn't think we would win, but us, and another group will be playing short sets next saturday.
Honestly, these guys im playing with are AWESOME, totally talented, awesome, groovy funk music. GO SEE THE SHOW if you have 25 bucks to spare for a ticket, its a really big deal!
Some of the other acts we beat were SPECTACULAR jazz musicians, but played what sounded like smooth jazz..but a little more exciting--
We won as one of the acts because our ages are 14-17. The judges were totally shocked, and said we would make good role models for the community! HAH.
SO, the herald wants to interview us on THURSDAY?!, and the show is on saturday.
We played Chameleon by Herbie Hancock and will play that and one other tune for the big show. We will miss school and rehearse on Friday.
