Hey everybody, just so you know, my family and I are OK. We had alot of limbs and pinecones in the yard, but thankfully no trees or huge limbs fell anywhere near the house. there have been some damage in our nieghborhood though, and about 6 houses next to us are still without power because of a tree that is still hanging on powerlines (pic). so these houses are running extension cables from the houses around that have power so that they can at least manage in the heat. the gas here has become a horrible situation. belhaven had class for two days and has been closed since monday, they are without power, water and sewage systems, most of the students have gone home until its running again. the devastation on the coast is horrible. if you want to know exactly whats going on wapt.com is doing an EXCELLENT job keeping everyone on top of whats happening. Jackson has been without power, still several neighborhoods dont have power.. but its slowly coming back up, we have a great deal of evacuees here in jackson staying at the colliseum and other shelters which need lost of water ice and food. people have been running out of gas on the side of the interstate, or even in mile long gas lines to get gas. people stayed overnight at gas stations hoping they would reopen with gas. everyone seems to be staying fairly calm and im relieved to know that there hasnt been more crime in jackson than whats normal. or at least they are telling us about it. its a horrible situation on the ms coast and in Louisianna. I'm not locking this post in case people come across it doing random searches... If anyone is reading this and wants to help you can go to: http://www.mississippi-redcross.org http://wapt.com both have info on how to help. Im and urging and coming close to begging people to help us keep it together here, so many people have lost so much and families members... this is the time for christians to really come out and seek the hopeless and hurting.
