I'm still alive

Well I'm almost done with my first little week of being a real teacher.

It feels great. For as much as we have done, there's still so much more to do of course!

"Real" is the best way I can describe it. I love having nothing else to go to in my life...I love being able to live this all right now, and not say no for personal reasons. It's slowly starting to feel like "mine".

In other news, I did make a little boy cry today, not from anything I said directly, but apparantly he doesn't handle loud noises well so when the kindergartners were practicing their "calling voices", he started weeping...at least it wasn't an all-out tantrum...no screaming involved, just wet tears for about 20 minutes and him curling up in a ball and not moving or participating.

We go into the music today...did some real music teaching...great start. I figured out my Fall Concert program (I think) and we're going with the following:

Women's Ensemble
-She Shall Have Music
-Dance on My Heart
-O mio bambion caro (Puccini)

Concert Singers AND Varsity Choir combined
-Kyrie Eleison from Schubert's Mass in G
-Birdsong
-Belle of Belfast

Select Ensemble
-Sicut Cervus (Palestrina)
-Had I the Heaven's Embroidered Cloths
-Amazing Grace (gospel style)

ALL CHOIRS
-Illumina oculos meos (Palestrina)

Oh, and I threw together my first field trip...for NEXT WEEK TUESDAY! I'm so happy my principal was in support!! I'm taking the Varsity Choir to an hour-long professional doo-wop group concert at Reeths-Puffer.

Sing on!
