[not fic] A NOTE ON TRANSLATIONS/CREDITING
Note on translations
I've gotten a bunch of messages about translating my stories into other languages. I'm extremely flattered! But just to streamline the process I've written up a quick post about what translations I'm okay with and what kind of credit I'd like:
1. The only languages you may never translate any of my K-pop work into are: Korean and Chinese*. All other languages are fine. My Starcraft 2 fic may never be translated, and may never be taken out of this community. My kdrama can be translated into any language.
2. If you're translating a fic from my fic community: I would prefer a link back to the actual fic on my fic comm as credit. Seriously, that's it. If you do want to put in an author's name, I'd much prefer if you used "gulpsofoxygen" instead of "canttakeabreath", because frankly this is my writing community and "canttakeabreath" is just a personal journal that I use to post fanfiction in this community.
If you're translating something from tumblr: I'd prefer a link back to the fic on tumblr where you found it. In that case, you can just credit "taoangles".
3. I would love a link back to the translation, but that's entirely optional.
4. You don't have to email me for permission as long as your translation is within the realm of (1) and (2). I appreciate it! I just take forever to respond to emails so...you might not get a response....for ages.
5. In terms of other kinds of tranformative work regarding my fanfiction/tumblr drabbles: if you’re going to ask me whether or not you can take a drabble (or story) i wrote and expand on it/remix it/use it as inspiration, the short answer is: feel free.
The long answer is: I do think it’s nice at least to sit down and think whether or not you’d have written it without having read my writing. If you would have-if there’s nothing of me in your writing, you don’t need to ask me for permission because I haven’t inspired you. If you have, if you think there is some of me in your writing, you also don’t need to ask me for permission, but you might want to link to whatever drabble/story inspired you when you post your final product. Just be honest with yourself and with me! And it's all cool.

NOTE BENE: I allow archiving of my fanfiction under the two conditions that when you archive my work you strip the work of a) any link back to my livejournal, tumblr, twitter, or any other accounts of mine on the Internet, and b) you do not reference the author of the piece. So feel free to keep PDFs of my writing, but please never add in an author's name anywhere in the document, especially if you share that document with someone else on any public platform. This is very important to me.
* I do reserve the right to add to this list of languages, so it's best to check back here!
