I have decided that I am cursed. No...better yet...I am not cursed but my apartment must have some seriously bad karma or something. That is the only way to describe the series of unfortunate events that have taken place since I moved in on Saturday. Really, if it weren't happening to me I would probably be laughing at the poor schmuck who had to suffer this cruel fate. But it is happening to me and therefore, by default, it is no longer funny. I moved in on Saturday and everything looked bright, except that we did not have tv yet so I could not watch the Trojans thoroughly thrash Arkansas (poor me). Sunday rolled around and Andrea and Rob and James and I went to see Just Like Heaven. Afterwords we went back to Rob's so that I could print my schedule and while I was there I called the cable company to see about installation. I called and they oh-so-cheerfully informed me that I would have to wait until NEXT monday for them to install my cable. After I finished being depressed, we went to the grocery store to stock up on food for the apartment. Between us, Andrea and I spent about $150 on food. We got home, unloaded the groceries and had a normal night (except that we can't seem to find ANY parking in our parking lot. Who do those other tenants think they are, bringing cars to school with them and all?!?!?!?) Anyways, I woke up Monday morning and went to get the milk to put on my cereal, only to realize that it was not cold. I stuck my hand in the fridge and realized it was room temperature inside. I opened the freezer and found a totally defrosted bag of chicken and a container of ice cream that had completely melted and was now a delectable, coffee-flavored soup! Our refrigerator died! DIED! DEAD DEAD DEAD! The repair guy is supposed to come out today or tomorrow but we had to drive all our food to Rob's Monday night and basically we can't keep any perishable food in the apartment. Therefore, I have not been able to cook for myself, because what am I going to be able to do with the leftovers? Basically that sucked. Then to make matters worse, on Monday night I was going to bed and I went to shut my closet door. I pulled...and it fell on me. And this is the door that actually opens. The other one hangs too low and scrapes the ground so it is really hard to open. But nooooo...the crappy one was still standing and the good one was being supported by my head (that really hurt by the way). The super came out to look at both problems yesterday and basically, long story short, nothing is going to be fixed for several days. My apartment is literally falling down around my head, or on my head as the case may be. The only silver lining is that I called the cable company back on Monday (the local office this time) and it turns out that they were able to install my cable the same day so I didn't have to wait a week and I have cable and internet at least to appease my wrath. School has not been at all bad either. If my apartment would just stop being crappy I think I would actually enjoy myself...but it hasn't...so I'm not. I think that is all in the drama department for the time being. I shall update later with another installment of "Megan's life is crap" but for now...goodbye.
