Jet's decision

Jun 17, 2004 16:52

Jet sat in her office chair slowly spinning and thinking. She'd done a lot of that lately and quite frankly it was making the other Gulls nervous.
"Here Jet, have some tea. I made a whole pot," Hop offered and waited till the chair had stopped entirely to hand it to her. "Be careful, it's hot," she warned.
Jet looked into the murky mug with it's scum of tea leaves. Tea was harder to come by, but easier to make than coffee. Really she didn't like either without heaps of sugar but there was a definite shortage of that around.
"Where's Plane?" she asked, suddenly. Flutter and Hop, the two other girls with her in this tiny office space, started. They'd become used to Jet's silences.
"In the city with Flapper," Flutter answered promptly. "Remember, you told them to stay there and not come back until they'd found... you know... him - Barnstorm."
"Well they can forget about him, we have work to do," Jet said sharply. It had been quite a blow for her when, after surviving Locos, Chosen, and Technos, she'd lost her oldest friend and Gull co-founder to the game and subsequent color wars. All of a sudden it seemed so incredibly stupid to Jet. She'd lost her valuable contacts, forced the entire tribe to move out to this airplane hanger and done her best to seal off the outside world. Jet wasn't entirely sure where this realization came from but she didn't bother to question it. When Jet made up her mind she didn't like to waste time.
"Right, it's time to pack. Would somebody wake up Scud? We're headed back to the city."
